Align outsourced services with your workforce
The outsourced services market puts hundreds of thousands of people to work, and with companies looking to streamline costs and focus on their core competencies, that figure is expected to rise significantly. This is a phenomenon that makes tremendous business sense, as organizations can tap into dedicated personnel for functions that lie on the periphery of their operations. Outsourced services can include facilities management, security guard services, IT help desk operations, food services, janitorial services and other business operations.
The System is Not Perfect
Unfortunately, the proliferation of outsourced services workers is exposing companies to new risks and inefficiencies, including the following:
— Inconsistent adherence to organizational policies: Your company has specific requirements when it comes to on-boarding, training, orientation, security and other procedures. The goal is to ensure everyone who has access to your buildings and systems are following policies and procedures that protect your organization. However, companies that offer outsourced services typically have disparate and often incongruent hiring processes, making it difficult to track and verify these activities.
The same holds true of off-boarding activities. When the contract with your outsourced services company comes to a close, how do they ensure that their workers do not maintain access to your buildings and network? Do they physically procure security badges and notify your security depart- ment? Do they record all off-boarding activity for your protection and to ensure compliance? The wrong answer may leave your company vulnerable.
