A few weeks ago I wrote (what I felt was) a clever post where I co-opted the famous Las Vegas tagline, “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” for my own purposes.

That purpose was to encourage you, in the case of the upcoming Contingent Workforce Strategies and Collaboration in the Gig Economy conferences, to ignore the tagline instructions! In other words, if you’re attending CWS and GigE events, don’t leave the ideas, knowledge, and tasks to improve yourself and your company’s contingent labor program in Vegas!.

Here’s the thing – beyond the learning you’ll get – the best reason to go to conferences like CWS and GigE is to create, build, and strengthen relationships! As we prep for this year’s events I know that what I am most looking forward to is seeing you, learning what you’ve been up to, sharing what’s new and exciting in both our worlds, and, of course, having some fun along the way. For those of you I haven’t met, seek me out! If I’m not at the IQN kiosk, leave your card, and I’ll find you. I’m always up for a good chat.

So, that’s my message to you, go to the CWS and GigE conferences with the goal of establishing new relationships and strengthening old ones. These conferences give you access to people from all of the key parts of our Ecosystem and many of them have experiences, knowledge, and – yes – horror stories that you can benefit from. Spend time on the conference floor getting to know people, sit down at a lunch table in an empty seat next to someone you don’t know, don’t automatically sit at the back of the room at a conference session! Instead, take the time to start up that conversation and see where it takes you. You’ll likely meet somebody that you have something in common with and that you can learn and grow from!

So, in keeping with my theme of “What happens in Vegas shouldn’t stay in Vegas”, you might want to bring an extra suitcase to pack up all of the ideas, knowledge and relationships you’ll bring home from these events. For those of you that I know already, I look forward to furthering our relationship and for those that I don’t yet know, can’t wait to meet you!
