The challenge
A multinational technology leader based in the US, this company develops, manufactures, licenses, supports, and sells computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and services. They are a leader in innovation in areas including artificial intelligence, virtual assistants, and public cloud services.
As a complex, multi-country, multi-currency client with over 500 suppliers globally, standardization was a major focus for them when selecting a vendor management system (VMS). Before their VMS implementation, every country had different contingent workforce management processes, which meant there was no consistency or ability to leverage their supply base, resulting in potential regulatory compliance issues.
They also wanted to simplify the processes required for hiring managers to engage talent. They also knew they needed to standardize the onboarding and offboarding of their contingent labor, and they wanted to find a technology provider with the necessary scale to roll out VMS technology quickly across the globe.
The Beeline VMS, implemented across 16 countries, oversees and enhances the company’s external workforce. This system handles over $300 million in yearly expenditure on temporary workers and statement of work (SOW) contracts.
The solution
To ensure it got the most from its investment in contingent labor, the client chose the Beeline Enterprise VMS. The Beeline VMS tracks, manages, and optimizes the company’s non-employee labor base, which constitutes more than $300 million in annual contingent and SOW spend. The organization chose a multi-year, phased implementation. Each new country’s implementation leveraged a scalable integration model, which helped to simplify processes and shorten implementation.
Beeline VMS provides a centralized platform for integrating the company’s contingent workforce data on standardized spend types such as information technology, business professionals, finance/accounting, administrative/clerical, and engineering/operations. The VMS program spans Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, India, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The VMS solution is fully localized in all 16 countries. Beeline VMS integrates with the client’s enterprise applications.
The results
- With Beeline VMS, the client has centralized the sourcing and management of their global non-employee workforce and captured enterprise-wide contingent spending. They have also ensured regulatory compliance, reduced their supply base from over 500 to fewer than 20 primary suppliers, controlled costs with competitive bidding and standardized rate cards, and minimized time to fill requisitions..
- Beeline helped the client implement a standardized job taxonomy, categorizing all job titles and rates. By combining the new taxonomy with Beeline’s quick request functionality, which recommends job titles based on the user’s profile and request history, hiring managers can more easily generate job requisitions.
- Since implementation, the VMS has demonstrated the flexibility to react to reorganizations, market shifts, and process innovation. Partnering with the client, Beeline has helped the company realize its strategic staffing vision and contingent workforce management goals.
