The challenge
One of the most dynamic regional healthcare organizations in the US, ChristianaCare is focused on improving health outcomes, making high-quality care more accessible, and lowering healthcare costs for residents throughout northern Delaware and the surrounding area.
In addition to more than 14,000 employees, the company depends on an external workforce of contingent workers, consultants, and volunteers to support its extensive network of primary care, home health care, and outpatient service facilities.
With three teaching hospitals, ChristianaCare’s workforce also includes students. The client’s HRIS/ERP system would not allow these student employees, who also had contingent assignments, to use the same global ID. This made it difficult to grant system access and increased the risk of duplicate records. Manual processes to manage this worker population required a significant amount of administrative time, resulting in inefficiency and higher program management costs.

The solution
Beeline Professional, an easy-to-activate vendor management system (VMS), allows ChristianaCare’s employees, external workers, and volunteers to be reflected under one worker record (with one unique ID) tied to multiple engagements – one for their employee engagement and the other (or multiple others) for their contingent worker/student engagements.
The worker’s employee engagement data is mastered in the HRIS/ERP system, while the contingent/student record data is managed in Beeline Professional. As a result, there is one system of record for all employee data and another for all contingent assignments with live data synced between the two.
The results
The client now has true visibility across the entire workforce without the need to create multiple worker IDs for one employee. Proper classification of workers as employees, contingent workers, and volunteers prevents misclassification risk. Easy-to-use reports put real-time data at the fingertips of both administrators and managers.
