The challenge

When the client adopted Workday’s human capital management (HCM) system to execute a standardized, end-to-end hiring process for all employees, it wanted to do the same for its non-permanent, contingent staff. However, the HCM system alone was not equipped to handle all the processes and functions needed to source and manage external talent, including:

  • Regulatory compliance
  • Time tracking and recording
  • Financial management of staffing suppliers
  • Spend and performance data analysis and reporting

To meet the unique requirements of sourcing and managing its extended workforce – and integrate this functionality with Workday HCM – the client turned to Beeline.

The solution

Beeline proposed a platform that would be as simple to use for contingent workers as Workday is for permanent workers. In addition, the Beeline platform would address the many complexities and unique requirements involved in sourcing and managing contingent talent.

The Beeline implementation integrated with Workday to facilitate complementary interactions between the two platforms. By transferring data using configurable APIs, Beeline’s integrations would automate error-free data exchange and promote a seamless, highly intuitive user experience.

The result

The client’s hiring managers now find it as easy as clicking a smart phone “app” to log into the Workday solution for handing employee hires or the Beeline solution for contingent work assignments. The intuitive user interfaces make it easy for even infrequent users to move swiftly through the necessary steps to interview, select, onboard, and manage each category of worker. This highly automated workflow leads users through entire process, with appropriate tools for every task and decision. 

Both Workday and Beeline provide robust sets of tools and processes for managing talent, with Beeline delivering the specialized features, procure-to-pay functionality, compliance tools, and robust analytics and reporting that are required to manage contingent staff and their suppliers.

With Beeline in place to support the client’s operations in the Netherlands, planning has begun to roll out in other countries with significant contingent staffing requirements.
